Navy Prt Guide 5 - The following information regarding PRT 2022 standards for men ages 40-44 is taken from the FIFTH Navy Physical Readiness Program Manual. This new update contains the official information on how physical fitness tests should be performed and the official Navy classification standards.

What makes this update interesting is the new introduction of the 2km row and forearm boards. The row was introduced as an alternative to the 1.5 mile run or 500 yard/450 meter swim and is a great alternative for those cold weather teams that don't have access to a pool. Forearm planks have now finally replaced the hated squat as a much better and much safer alternative for measuring core strength and endurance.

While the Navy originally planned to have the same board standards for both men and women, they learned from an analysis of 26,000 forearm board records from the CY2021 PFA that there was little difference in gender performance. As a result, the Navy revised the forearm board standards to be gender specific (ie, separate rating tables for males and females) with gradual age group stratification. The updated Men's and Women's Forearm Board standards can be found in Guide 5 and both the MyNavy Portal and the official PFA app are scheduled to be updated before April 1, 2022.

The minimum pass score sailors must meet is 29 push-ups, 1:14 forearm plank, 15:15 1.5-mile run, or 9:35 2-kilometer row. Those who fail to meet the minimum score will be referred to the process in Guideline 7 which contains administrative actions for PRT failures.
